The Stylish W580i is one of the latest Walkman phones from Sony Ericsson. It lives up to the expectations. W850i measures 99 by 47 by 14mm in size and weighs just 94 grams which make it very easier to carry in your pocket. W580i is very compact and comes with an easy to open slider open mechanism. The handset comes with an external navigation and music controls which allows the user to access their menu system even when the handset is closed.
The W580i comes with a brilliant, 2-inch clear TFT screen with 262K colours and 240 by 320 pixels. The 2-megapixel camera is protected beneath the closed slide and it can record both stills and video.
The W580i comes with a solid built quailty and it hold very well on your hand. It comes in three styles, white with orange, black with orange and grey with blue.
As you slide the phone you can view the keypad. But the keypad is very hard and difficult to press. The outer navigation buttons are well places and the design is like typical sony ericsson models.
Features & Performance
The most unique feature of the W580i is the built-in pedometer. It is not the most accurate meter as most of the time you're either holding the phone or it's in a bag or pocket and not secured on the hip for the most accurate measurement. So for the enthusiastic step counter, it would be better to buy a real pedometer with a clip.
The W580i sound quality is very good. The music player is perfect and it comes with a new feature called "shake to control". When ever you shake W580i the phone randomly changes a song. It also comes with radio and music recognition.
The gaming engine in Sony Ericsson W580i runs on J2ME which supports Java games. The very good 2-inch clear TFT screen with 262K colours and 240 by 320 pixels makes the game play as good experience.
The W580i comes witha 2 Megapixel camera with 4X digital zoom. The camera picture quality is quite good. But the camera lags autofocus and flash which makes shooting at night time not possible. The 2 Megapixel camera can also record videos of decent quality.
The stand by batterlife stated is 370 hours. But practically battery life comes little over 2 days in stand by mode. If you talk frequently and hear music in between that, well the batter may drain little bit earlier also. Hence it is a neccessary to charge this W580i once in 2 days.
